How to Check Spam Messages on iPhone

Spam messages can be a real nuisance, cluttering your inbox and potentially leading to scams or unwanted solicitations. If you’re an iPhone user and want to keep your inbox clean, here’s a guide on how to check and manage spam messages on your device.

1. Use the Built-in Spam Filter

First and foremost, it’s important to know that iPhone comes with a built-in spam filter that automatically detects and moves spam messages to a separate folder. To check if a message is spam, simply swipe left on it. If the “Mark as Spam” option appears, tap on it. This will notify Apple that the message is spam, and it will be moved to the Spam folder. To access the Spam folder, tap on the “Mail” app, then swipe down and tap on “Spam.”

2. Review Your Spam Folder

To check the messages that have been marked as spam, navigate to the “Spam” folder in the Mail app. Here, you can review the messages and decide whether they are indeed spam or if they were incorrectly marked. If you find a legitimate message in the Spam folder, you can swipe left on it and tap “Not Spam” to move it back to your main inbox.

3. Manage Spam Filters

If you want to further customize your spam filtering settings, go to “Settings” on your iPhone, then tap on “Mail.” Scroll down and tap on “Filters and Blocked Addresses.” Here, you can manage your blocked senders, edit filter rules, and create new rules to filter out unwanted messages.

4. Report Spam to Apple

If you receive a spam message that appears to be fraudulent or harmful, you can report it to Apple for further investigation. Open the message, tap on the “Report Junk” option, and then choose “Report Spam.” This will send the message to Apple, and they will take appropriate action.

5. Keep Your iPhone’s Software Updated

Regularly updating your iPhone’s software ensures that you have the latest security features and improvements. Go to “Settings,” tap on “General,” and then “Software Update” to check for and install any available updates.

By following these steps, you can effectively check and manage spam messages on your iPhone, keeping your inbox clean and secure. Remember to periodically review your Spam folder and adjust your filter settings as needed to maintain a clutter-free email experience.
