How to Prepare Turkey Night Before
Preparation is key when it comes to hosting a Thanksgiving dinner, and ensuring that your turkey is perfectly cooked and ready to serve is no exception. If you’re looking to make the process easier and less stressful, it’s a great idea to start preparing your turkey the night before. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to prepare your turkey night before the big day.
1. Select the Right Turkey
Before you begin, make sure you have the right turkey for your gathering. The size of the turkey should be based on the number of guests you’re expecting. A general rule of thumb is to allow about 1.5 pounds of turkey per person. Don’t forget to purchase the turkey a day or two before to ensure it’s fresh.
2. Thaw the Turkey
If you’re using a frozen turkey, you’ll need to thaw it properly. The recommended method is to thaw the turkey in the refrigerator for about 24 hours per pound. Place the turkey in a leak-proof bag and submerge it in cold water, changing the water every 30 minutes, if necessary.
