How to Prepare Bhel Puri at Home

Bhel puri is a popular Indian snack that is loved by many for its crunchy texture and tangy flavors. Ingredients

Before you start preparing bhel puri, gather the following ingredients:

– 1 cup puffed rice (muri)
– 1/2 cup potato, cut into small cubes
– 1/2 cup green chili, finely chopped
– 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
– 1/2 cup tomatoes, finely chopped
– 1/4 cup chaat masala
– 1/4 cup lemon juice
– 2 tablespoons tamarind chutney
– 2 tablespoons mint chutney
– 1 tablespoon roasted cumin powder
– Salt to taste
– 2 tablespoons oil
– 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
– 1/2 teaspoon urad dal
– 1/2 teaspoon chana dal
– 1/4 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
– 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
– 1 green chili, slit
– 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
– 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
– 1/4 teaspoon red chili flakes
– Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions

1. Boil the potatoes in salted water until they are cooked. Once cooked, drain the water and set the potatoes aside to cool.

2. In a large bowl, mix the puffed rice with chaat masala, salt, roasted cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and red chili flakes. Toss well to coat the puffed rice evenly.

3. In a small pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, fenugreek seeds, asafoetida, and green chili. Let it splutter for a few seconds.

4. Add the chopped onions, green chilies, and tomatoes to the pan. Cook until the onions turn translucent and the tomatoes are soft.

5. Add the cooked potatoes to the pan and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.

6. Remove the pan from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.

7. In a separate bowl, mix the tamarind chutney, mint chutney, and lemon juice.

8. Add the cooked potato mixture to the puffed rice and toss well to combine.

9. Add the chopped onions, tomatoes, green chilies, and chaat masala. Mix well.

10. Add the lemon-tamarind mixture and adjust the seasoning to your taste.

11. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve immediately.
