Ingredients:

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1 cup milk
– 1/2 cup vegetable oil
– 2 large eggs
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 cup boiling water

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or a 9×13-inch rectangular baking pan.

2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.

4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.

6. Pour the boiling water over the batter. The batter will rise quickly and may overflow the pan. This is normal.

7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

8. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

9. Once the cake is cool, you can frost it with your favorite chocolate frosting or sprinkle some powdered sugar on top.
