How to Add Co-Author in ResearchGate

Adding a co-author to your ResearchGate profile is an essential step in acknowledging the contributions of other researchers to your work. Collaborations are a fundamental part of academic research, and it is important to give proper credit to all individuals involved. In this article, we will guide you through the process of adding a co-author to your ResearchGate profile.

Step 1: Log in to your ResearchGate account

Before you can add a co-author, you must first log in to your ResearchGate account. If you do not have an account, you will need to create one. Go to the ResearchGate website and enter your email address and password to log in.

Step 2: Navigate to the publication you want to edit

Once you are logged in, locate the publication you want to add a co-author to. You can do this by searching for the publication in the search bar at the top of the page or by navigating to the “My Publications” section.

Step 3: Click on the “Edit” button

Once you have found the publication, click on the “Edit” button next to the title. This will take you to the publication’s edit page.

Step 4: Add a co-author

On the edit page, you will see a section for adding co-authors. Click on the “Add Co-Author” button and enter the name of the person you want to add. If the person is already a member of ResearchGate, their profile will appear in the search results. Select their profile and click “Add.”

Step 5: Confirm the co-author’s details

After adding the co-author, you will be prompted to confirm their details. Make sure that the name and other information are correct. If you need to make any changes, click “Edit” and update the information.

Step 6: Save the changes

Once you have confirmed the co-author’s details, click the “Save” button to add the co-author to your publication. The changes will be saved, and the co-author will now appear on your publication’s ResearchGate page.

Step 7: Notify the co-author

It is a good practice to notify the co-author that you have added them to the publication on ResearchGate. You can do this by sending them a message through ResearchGate or by contacting them directly via email.

By following these steps, you can easily add a co-author to your ResearchGate profile. Remember that proper acknowledgment of co-authors is crucial for maintaining transparency and integrity in academic research.
